Bennett's 6 month update

6 months!!

I cannot believe a half a year has gone by with our little Bennie-bean.  A big part of me still sees him as this squishy little babe in my arms, fresh out of the water in my bedroom.  Every day I am seeing him look more and more like his own person and less like a mini-Jacob.

Bennie-bean at birth, looking like big bro.

Right now, his favorite things to do include rolling in a straight line across the floor, chewing on everything in sight (he prefers my face), squealing and squeaking, and jumping.  He's also cutting teeth.  Currently we have one incisor and any day now we can expect incisor #2.  Yup.  My baby is going to be a vampire.  *Cue Twilight jokes*

One of my challenges right now is trying to lay him down to sleep, both during nap time and at the beginning of bed time.  I still want to co-sleep, especially if he needs to nurse during the night, but I also am feeling the need to have some quiet/productive time.  Because of the constant rolling, I really wanted to put him down in something that would contain him, so we moved the pack & play into our room and I have started trying to put him down in that for his afternoon nap.  So far, he's slept in it for 30 mins day 1, 10 mins day 2, and 1 hr day 3.  We'll see how this week goes.

Day 1, note breast pad in corner

It's so weird that he's already rolling and scooting.  I forgot how quickly they go from being little loaves that are content being held to squirmy, grabby creatures.  As difficult as it can be to hold him sometimes, it's also adorable watching how excited he gets when he sees an object he wants to grab and stretches out his arms for it.  He's gotten my phone a few times and it's like he's claimed the Holy Grail. I'm definitely making the shift into watching him like a hawk when he's on the floor, especially with big brother's toys everywhere.

The next post will be about starting solids and my thoughts on when/how I want to approach this with Bennett.  I have more thoughts on that than I wanted to put here and now that he's 6 months, it's a question I am getting asked a lot.  For now I'll leave you with some recent pics!

That gummy smile is soon to be replaced by a toothy grin!

Eating my face :)

Yummy frozen breast milk!

If you celebrate Easter, I hope it was a happy one!
