Our Anti-Super Bowl

We are not sports people.  Not even a little bit.  I like to play sports when no one who is playing is very competitive and it's actually just for fun, but I just don't see the point in watching it.  I used to like baseball and basketball when I was younger, and could probably get into watching a game or two, but I can't see myself ever getting super involved in a team to the point where I plan my day around a game.  Unless it was one of my kids playing.

Nothing against anyone who likes sports, it's just not my thing.  My husband is probably even less into them than I am.  We've talked about how, if either of our boys becomes a super jock we'll be completely lost at how to interact with him.  We will certainly try to understand what he is into and go to games with him (as much as that idea makes me cringe) but it is just not natural for either of us to care about sports.  It's not our kind of game.

This, however, totally is:

Cub participating in a rite of passage: his first time playing Mario.  Heart swelling.

He did pretty well, actually (with Daddy's help).

The rest of our afternoon consisted of watching The Care Bears Movie (Cub's choice), mixed with some Puppy Bowl and cat videos on youtube.  If you haven't spent time with Maru, you really should.  He owns the internet.  Well, maybe he did in 2010.  I have to admit that I am not up to date with popular cats of the internet.

I also made some Super Bowl-type snacks, but *kind of* healthier.  Don't mind my awful food photography.

Chocolate Covered Katie's Cookie Dough Dip

CCK's Healthy Caramel Popcorn

"Healthy" Texas Fries, made with organic potatoes,
Morningstar Farms Grillers Crumbles, and cheese
I did manage to catch Beyonce slaying it at the halftime show.  She really makes those of us who have young children look lazy.  Girl was fierce.  I also loved the Destiny's Child reunion.  Made my inner 17 year old happy :)

How did you spend SuperBowl Sunday?
