30 before 30 update: one month left!

So it's officially one month until my 30th, and with that, it's time to dust off the 30 before 30 list and check in with my progress.  Most of the items I put on the list have been done, although I've admittedly backtracked on my progress with a few.  (Hello, coffee-drinking!)

I've also been bad about posting my What I ate Wednesday for the last 2 weeks, and my meal planning has fallen behind.  Part of that is due to financial issues, but part of it is sheer exhaustion.  Bennett is hardcore teething and now that Jacob is out of school for the summer it's kind of tricky to keep him entertained every day, especially on so little productive sleep.

But enough complaining, especially since this list is all about self improvement.  I'm happy to say that my running is going super well, and despite not posting my food I've been eating fairly well (with the occasional cheat thrown in for good measure.  Who doesn't eat ice cream in the summer anyway?)

30 before 30

  1. Start saying what I really mean *I have definitely started this, although this will take some practice
  2. Watch 20 movies I've never seen *So far I've seen Blue Valentine, Anna Karenina, Bachelorette, Safety Not Guaranteed, Iron Man 3, Hit and Run, Star Trek Into Darkness, Brave, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Warm Bodies, The Bourne Legacy (most of it at least), and Celeste & Jesse Forever.
  3. Reorganize Jacob's closet *This one might cut it really close, though there's really only so much I can actually do with all of our junk.
  4. Delete every unnecessary file from my computer (the ones I can find!) *Working towards it!
  5. Stay up really late just because
  6. Initiate completely screen-free meal time*So far, so good!
  7. Go outside every day (weather permitting) *We've been outside every day that it has been warm enough!
  8. Cut out coffee (had to un-cross this one.  teething baby has thrown my progress off!)
  9. Call my mom once a week just to chat*Sometimes 2-3 times if I forget something :)
  10. Make pasta sauce from scratch *It was really good!

  11. Work out when I don't want to *I have a really good routine going.
  12. Starting dining out only twice per week *Meal planning helps tremendously with this!
  13. Drive as little as possible *Doing well with this, although we've driven across town for a park once or twice, which is totally worth it.
  14. Get rid of all clothes that don't fit me
  15. Rework our dining area *Crossing this off because we've done everything we can to it.  I can't wait to move :(
  16. Read 6 non-parenting books (actually a challenge for me as the kids like to climb on me when I'm reading) *So far I've read Kelly Oxford's book, The Nerdist Way, and a postpartum book that I'm counting because it's technically not a parenting book (though it's for work). 3 more to go!
  17. Run a 5K *Sunday's the day!
  18. Redesign my etsy shop/decide if I want to take it into a new direction *Crossing this off because I've decided not to reopen my shop.  I've got too many other new ventures that I'm pursuing at the moment.
  19. Make and follow a weekly meal plan *Posting it on the blog has been very helpful with accountability!
  20. Get a mani/pedi

  21. Re-watch the Lord of the Rings series
  22. Go Gluten-Free for a week
  23. Work on my other blog
  24. Make one new recipe from my Pinterest boards per day *I started a new board where I pin things that I've made.  This is keeping me accountable for updating when I make my one new recipe per day.
  25. Go on a date with my husband without kids once a month *If we're counting his birthday weekend when we saw Iron Man 3 with his Dad and when we saw Star Trek ;)
  26. Attend Placenta Encapsulation Training 
  27. Take a class at the Y regularly *Power Yoga!
  28. Buy a vintage dress
  29. Make our patio useable
  30. Do a squat challenge
